What if the camera could help you find yourself again?

After a separation or divorce, there can be a strange moment when you realise the photographs you already have don’t quite feel like you anymore.
Maybe you’re hardly in any of them because you were always the one taking them.
Maybe they belong to a chapter of your life that has ended.
Or maybe the woman looking back at you simply doesn’t feel like the woman you are becoming.
For years, you may have been someone’s wife, someone’s partner, someone’s mum. Your routines, your identity and even the way you saw yourself may have been closely tied to another person.
And then everything shifts.
You might feel relieved. Stronger than you expected. Excited. Frightened. A little lost.
Quite often, all of those things at once.
When your old photographs no longer fit
Photographs can hold so much of our history.
They capture relationships, family life, holidays and milestones. But after a major life change, they can also feel like they belong to another version of you.
Perhaps you’ve started thinking about dating again and suddenly realised you don’t have a single recent photograph that feels like the person you are now.
But this isn’t really about needing a good dating-profile picture.
It’s about something deeper.
It’s about reconnecting with yourself.
A photoshoot can be more than just photographs
I know that being photographed may not sound like the obvious way to rebuild confidence, particularly if you’ve spent years avoiding the camera.
But the experience can be completely different from what you imagine.
It doesn’t need to involve studio lights, stiff posing or trying to look like someone else.
It can be natural, relaxed and even fun.
My shoots feel more like spending time with a girlfriend who happens to have a camera. We talk, walk, laugh and create photographs that feel like you rather than a version of you that has been overly styled or posed.
And somewhere during the shoot, something begins to shift.
You see a photograph on the back of the camera and think:
Yes. That’s me.
Not the woman you used to be.
Not the person someone else expected you to be.
You, as you are now.
First and foremost, the photographs are for you
You may use the photographs on a dating profile.
You may share them online.
You may frame one at home.
But first and foremost, they are for you.
A reminder of the woman you are now and the chapter you are stepping into.
Because sometimes a photoshoot isn’t about business, dating or simply needing some nice photographs.
Sometimes it’s about saying:
This is me now.
That is the thinking behind my Confidence Shoots: photographs created first and foremost for you, in a way that feels natural, relaxed and genuinely like you.
